Takuto Kumagai represented Tokyo Metropolitan University at the Global Young Scientists Summit 2025

Takuto Kumagai, a first-year master's student belonging to the River and Hydrology Laboratory, participated in the Global Young Scientists Summit 1, organized by the National Research Foundation of Singapore, as a representative of Tokyo Metropolitan University (a total of two people, one of whom is Japanese). This summit is an international conference that brings together 2 young researchers from 1 countries and deepens discussions with world-renowned researchers, including Nobel Prize winners. During the summit, Kumagai participated in a group session led by Dr. Joan Rose, winner of the Stockholm Water Prize, also known as the Nobel Prize for water, and interacted with young researchers from a variety of fields. He also visited universities in Singapore and observed research on water resource reclamation, flood risk, urban planning, and other topics, gaining valuable knowledge and building an international network.

Takuto Kumagae, a first-year master's student from the hydrological laboratory, participated in the Global Young Scientists Summit 2025, hosted by the National Research Foundation, Singapore, as one of two representatives from Tokyo Metropolitan University (and the only Japanese participant from the university ). 

This prestigious international conference brought together 342 young scientists from 49 countries to engage in discussions with globally renowned scientists, including Nobel Laureates. 

During the summit, he participated in a group session led by Prof. Joan Rose, winner of the 2016 Stockholm Water Prize, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Water.” He also networked with young researchers from diverse fields and visited universities in Singapore to observe research on wastewater reclamation, flood risk assessment, and urban planning. Through these activities, he gained invaluable insights and expanded his international network.
