Inter-university exchange with University of Moratuwa (Sri Lanka) and University of Cambridge (UK)

1. Courtesy visit
 Professor Lalith from the University of Moratuwa and Associate Professor Edoardo from the University of Cambridge paid a courtesy visit to our university's President Takaya Ohashi and Vice President Noguchi on December 2024, 12. Professors Imamura and Yokoyama from our department were also in attendance, and after introducing the research and educational activities of both universities, a lively exchange of opinions took place.
 It is hoped that this visit will promote further exchanges and collaboration between the two universities.

2. Special Lectures
 Prior to the courtesy visit, on December 12th, Associate Professor Edoardo gave a lecture on the theme of "Water Resources and the Role of Engineers," in which he analyzed water resource issues from an international perspective and presented a code of conduct for engineers who contribute to society. Furthermore, a panel discussion was held, providing a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of future water resource management.

 Meanwhile, Professor Lalith gave a lecture on sustainable water resource management in response to climate change on December 12th, introducing specific data and research results on the issues of water resource management in Sri Lanka and around the world and their relationship with climate change. Many questions were asked by the participants, leading to lively discussions.

3. Opportunities for networking
 Both professors introduced themselves at a department meeting for faculty members of our faculty and exchanged opinions. They also participated in the end-of-year party in December, where they had the opportunity to interact with faculty members in our faculty. They also participated in a party held by the River and Hydrology Laboratory, which was a valuable opportunity for students to learn about what it is like at a university overseas.
